You should only consider getting a pet if you can dedicate the time and money it takes to care for that animal.
When adopting an animal here are a few questions you should ask the shelter employees:
Is this animal good with kids?
Is this animal good with other animals?
Why is this animal at the shelter?
Do you know any health history on the animal?
Does this animal prefer women over men or men over women?
Is this animal house trained?
Do you have any history on this animal?
How old is this animal?
Here are a few questions you should ask yourself:
Do I have the time for this animal?
Can I afford to give this animal proper vet care?
Can I afford to buy food, toys, treats, and shelter for this animal?
Did I check with my Landlord?
Did I check with my insurance company to see if they have any restrictions on breeds?
Do I have the space for this animal?
What Vet will I use?
What food will I feed?
What is the right animal for me?
